Mini Fragrance Review: Three Scents From SAS
Perfume snob that I may be I am not immune to the allure of over-the-top artificial sweetness emanating from my local Bath & Body Works. I like the foamy texture of their body washes and for a few minutes in the shower (and right after because their body creams are a godsend to my lizard skin in the winter) and a lot of their scents are enjoyably silly. However, what I am not willing to do is pay over ten dollars for a body wash or lotion so I stock up on three or four sets during SAS and then use whichever combinations I picked up for the next few months – this year I snagged Vanilla Café, Vampire Blood, and Winter Candy Apple.
Vanilla Café
Notes: smooth espresso, whipped vanilla and toasted hazelnut.
Smells Like: A vanilla latte.
Layer With: Theodoros Kalotinis’ Coffee Addict to amp the coffee sweetness or a more masculine fragrance like Maison Margiela’s Jazz Club to bring some more grounded, woody base notes.
Vampire Blood
Notes: red berries, night-blooming jasmine and petrifying plum
Smells Like: A berry-flavoured gummy candy… but sexy.
Layer With: DedCool’s Red Dakota to add some refreshing citrus.
Winter Candy Apple
Notes: red apples, winter rose petals and candied oranges
Smells Like: Delicious, sticky-sweet apple goodness.
Layer With: Cardinal Scents’ Original Sin for apple on apple on apple baby.
